Pointing Towards Idiocy

On the precipice of a historical legal decision on the constitutionality of a federal law defining marriage as a union between only a man and woman, it seems to me that the ability to argue for what opponents of marriage equality call traditional marriage have all but fallen into ignominy. If you cringe at my pejorative, then I would encourage you to read on, for it is only when we are uncomfortable are we truly challenged to learn and change.

First let me tell you what you won’t find here. You won’t find statistics on how same-sex parents raise better children, stay married longer, or lead happier lives. You won’t find a close reading of the constitutionality of any existing or proposed laws. You won’t even find clever logic arguments or comparisons.

Here is what you will find. A simple accusation.

By not supporting the protection of same-sex marriage you are being an idiot. And when it comes time for you to reflect on your life before your departure from this heart-breaking Earth, you will have forever regretted your idiocy. Or perhaps you won’t. Either way, you won’t be one of the ones we remember fondly.
